Harry Redknapp will walk into a major row with Andy Cole when they meet this week following the club's trip to Hong Kong.
The pair are at loggerheads as to why the former England forward was not involved in the pre season tournament, with Cole saying that he was axed and Redknapp insisting last night he was invited – however had turned the chance down.
Redknapp said, "It was his choice. We asked him if he would like to come and he mentioned he would rather stay at home because he thought he would train better and recover from a knock. He could have come here and I do not know why he would said differently. I think he would like to leave the club."
Cole, 35, had earlier claimed, "I do not know why I have not gone to Hong Kong – you must ask the manager. I only would like to play football."
It is looking certain Cole will not play for Redknapp again however he is struggling to find a club to match his £30,000-a week wages.
Redknapp is struggling to offload players due to the wages they are on at Fratton Park. Defender Andy Griffin has turned down an offer from Derby County, whilst clubs were scared off by a £4 million asking price for forward Lomana LuaLua.
Midfielder Matt Taylor also faces an uncertain future after being informed he cannot be guaranteed a 1stteam place inspite of scoring some spectacular goals last season.
Kanu expects to sign a new deal with Portsmouth however Redknapp admitted that it was unlikely he could be signing Seville forward Fredi Kanoute after having a £7 million bid turned down.
The Portsmouth manager is also angry that there are still whispers about his reputation in relation to the Premier League bung inquiry and police investigations into the transfer of Amdy Faye from Portsmouth to Newcastle.
"I was not even at the club when Amdy left. I was at Southampton," mentioned Redknapp. "How much money has Lord Stevens spent and how much has he cost? What have they found? Nothing."

Former Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness is threatening to sue the Quest investigators who named him in their £1.3 million inquiry into Premier League transfers.
Souness is the 1st major football figure to come out fighting over the Stevens Report, published last week following a 15 month investigation of 362 transfer deals.
The Scot is incensed that the Quest team, led by former Metropolitan Police commissioner Lord Stevens, claimed there were inconsistencies in the evidence he and Kenny Shepherd, the son of Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd, gave to the investigators.
The report presented by Lord Stevens to the Premier League Friday named 4 transfers involving Newcastle among the 17 deals they mentioned they were unable to sign off due to concerns over them.
4 Newcastle deals – for Inter midfielder Emre,Rangers defender Jean Alain Boumsong, Portsmouth midfielder Amdy Faye and Deportivo La Coruna forward Albert Luque – involved fees totalling £23.3 million and were all conducted when Souness was manager.
A statement issued by Souness's solicitors mentioned he would not understand why he was named in the Stevens report when he has acted freely as a witness to the inquiry.
It was also claimed that at no time during his talks with Quest was it suggested that there were inconsistencies in his evidence.
Now Souness is threatening to take Quest to court to lift what he thinks is the slur that hangs over him and the serious damage that being named could have on his managerial prospects.
Souness, working as a TV football pundit, has not worked in management since he was sacked by Newcastle in February 2006. He was mentioned to have turned down the Crystal Palace position for family reasons.
