Alessio Tacchinardi Rumours and Transfers

08 08 2007

Alessio Tacchinardi is on the verge of signing for Atalanta as stated by the latest reports out of Italy.

The 32 year old became a free agent in July, after it became clear that Juve did not have much in the way of plans for him following his 2 seasons on-loan at Villarreal.

Tacchinardi had a distinguished career with the Bianconeri, with 5 Scudetti, one Champions League, the Intercontinental Cup, European Supercup, Coppa Italia, and 4 Italia Super Cups to show for during the 11 seasons he spent in Turin.

He has become increasingly injury prone and more mono-paced in recent years, however, so rather than welcome him back from his Spanish sojourn with open arms, Juve have chosen to have faith in new transfers Tiago Mendes and Sergio Almiron from Lyon and Empoli respectively.

Giuseppe Rossi has begun his Villarreal adventure, however said he only left Italy because none of the big clubs thought in him.

The Man Utd owned star had scored 9 goals in 19 games for Parma last term, rescuing them from relegation, however the Serie A sides would not meet his £6.7 million price tag.

'I thank my new club for this chance. They are a team that think big and that is shown by the money they spent to bring me here. They really did think in me,' mentioned the U21 international.

He was linked with Parma, Fiorentina, Napoli and Juve, however it is reported the highest offer Man Utd received was only £5.4 million.

'I feel that I am a support striker, even if I consider myself a complete player. I am not Diego Forlan's replacement, as I only would like to focus on earning my own place in the squad.'

Rossi puts pen to paper on a 6 year contract with Villarreal, a team with Italian links after working with Alessio Tacchinardi for 18 months on loan from Juve.

'I am fit and ready to meet my new teammates. I cannot wait to get started.'

After Alessio Tacchinardi, Giuliano Giannichedda has also said he's terminating his contract with Juve.

'This is a bit of a sad day for me,' the former Udinese and Lazio player informed Juve Channel.

'I am nearly 33 years old and would like to play on for a while longer. The club was very kind and Tuesday I will be a free agent.'

The Bianconeri are completely revamping their team for the return to the top flight and have brought in midfielders Tiago Mendes, Hasan Salihamidzic and Sergio Almiron.

This will leave precious little space for the old guard and following Tacchinardi's decision to walk away on a free this week, Giannichedda has made a similar choice.

He never quite got a chance to shine in Turin, as his 1st campaign in 2005-06 was marred by injury, then the Bianconeri were demoted as part of the Calciopoli scandal.

'I arrived here in an invincible Juve and my only regret is that my Champions League experience was so brief.'

The future is uncertain for Giannichedda, who has 3 Italy caps to his name, however he was linked with Livorno and his old club Udinese.

He played at the Stadio Friuli for 6 seasons from 1995 to 2001.
