Adrian started his career in 1996 with Arges Dacia Pitesti where he managed 14 goals in his 51 appearances. In 1998 he moved on to Dinamo Bucharest for 600,000 Euros before his performances earned him a 1.2 million Euro move to big spending Italian giants Inter Milan.
Mutu then moved onto Hellas Verona in Greece, originally on loan, before a 4 million Euro permanent move. He stayed for two seasons before sealing a switch back to Italy but this time with Parma for 10 million Euros.
After a season with Parma he made a big money (£15.8 million) move to join the 'Russian Revolution' at Chelsea. It all went wrong for him while there he was frozen out the team, then the club did a drugs test on him and he tested positive for Cocaine. He was immediately fired by the club and received a 7 month ban from football.
Juventus took a risk on signing him while he was still banned and stood by him until he was able to play for the club. He made 32 appearances as Juve clinched the Italian League title and forced his way straight back into the Romanian team.
On the 8th of July 2008 Fiorentina officially announced his signing for an undisclosed fee. There he will be reunited with the manager from his time with Parma, Cesare Prandelli.
