Adam Newton came through the youth ranks at West Ham United and was at the club from August 1998 to May 2002. While with the Hammers he had loan spells at Portsmouth - for a month in the summer of 1999, Notts County - from November 2000 to May 2001 and Leyton Orient - for a month in March 2002
The England Under 21 international made three appearances as a substitute while at West Ham before moving to 'The Posh' on a free transfer being signed by Barry Fry on the 1st May 2002 on a three year contract.
A right winger, he made his debut as a full international for St. Kitts and Nevis in 2004. While at West Ham he played in the 9-0 aggregate FA Youth Cup Final victory over Coventry in 1999 and was awarded the Man of the Match award, beating the likes of Joe Cole.
