Norwich manager Peter Grant will be without left back Adam Drury for the Championship visit of Southampton to Carrow Road.

The 28 year old was withdrawn during the 2nd half of the Canaries' 5-2 demolition of League 2 side Barnet in the Carling Cup in midweek with an ankle problem and is rated as a doubt to face Saints.

If he is unavailable Simon Lappin, who scored in that triumph, will revert to left back with Luke Chadwick coming into midfield.

Julien Brellier is also set to miss out after complaining of a stiff back after turning in a fine display in last Saturday's 0-0 draw at Preston so Mark Fotheringham will continue in his place in central midfield.

Darren Huckerby remains sidelined with the groin problem which has prevented him from kicking a ball since last season and Chelsea loanee Jimmy Smith faces at least another month out with his calf problem.

Jamie Cureton will play his 1st league game for the club since 1996 and will be hoping to emulate his display Tuesday when he scored twice inside the 1st 16 minutes.

New signing Wayne Thomas goes straight into the Southampton squad.

The 28 year old signed in a £1 million deal from Burnley Thursday and is probably going to be pitched straight into Saints' makeshift defence.

With Claus Lundekvam (ankle) still injured and Darren Powell suspended for one final game, Thomas will probably line up alongside on-loan Alan Bennett, allowing Chris Makin to revert to his favoured full back position.

Goalkeeper Kelvin Davis is in full training after a virus and would replace Bartosz Bialkowski following some indecisive displays from the young Pole.

Adam Hammill is also back in training after missing the Carling Cup defeat by Peterborough with a foot injury and fellow midfielder Inigo Idiakez has recovered from hamstring trouble, even though the veteran Spaniard is short of match fitness.

Liverpool star Adam Hammill signed a new deal at Anfield.

The skilful winger, who is on a season long loan at Southampton, inked a new 3 year contract before making the transfer to St Mary's.

The 19 year old is highly-regarded at Anfield and he is tipped for a big future in the game.

Hammill admitted that he was elated to sort out his long term future and has set his sights on breaking into Rafa Benitez's 1st team squad.

"I signed a 3 year deal at Liverpool earlier in the summer," Hammill informed skysports.com.

"The deal keeps me at Anfield until 2011 and I am delighted about that. I am a life long Liverpool fan and it is my dream to play in the 1st team."

Southampton have completed the signing of out of favour Norwich midfielder Youssef Safri for an undisclosed fee.

Safri, who has also been linked with West Brom, signed a 2 year deal.

Canaries manager Peter Grant was furious with the Moroccan international after he turned up late for the official team photo earlier this week.

Safri was then dropped from the team to face The Hammers in a friendly Tuesday and Grant mentioned his days at Carrow Road were numbered.

The former Coventry man becomes manager George Burley's 4th new recruit of the summer, having already signed Adam Hammill, Gregory Vignal and Alan Bennett.

Safri 1st made the move to English football when he joined the Sky Blues in 2001 from his home-town side Raja Casablanca.

Norwich paid Coventry £500,000 Safri in June 2004.

Liverpool winger Adam Hammill's agent expects the youngster to return to Scotland for a 2nd loan spell.

The 19 year old was an impressive performer for Dunfermline last season, inspite of their relegation, helping the Pars reached the Tennent's Scottish Cup final.

But Hammill's agent Tamas Byrne thinks Liverpool are ready to allow him return to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, saying in the Daily Mail, "I expect Adam to go out on loan for next season and there is a good chance that would again be in Scotland."

He added, "His performances for Dunfermline have persuaded Liverpool to talk about a new contract. I have not finalised that yet but, with 2 years left on his existing deal, the new contract will be for 3 or 4 more years at Anfield. However the feeling is for him to spend another year somewhere else gaining experience. There is some Championship interest from the likes of Watford however if either of the Old Firm, or other SPL clubs, are interested, then we would look at it very positively indeed."
