Cardiff City said they have turned down a bid of over £1 million for highly rated Welsh teenager Aaron Ramsey.
The 16 year old became the youngest player to represent Cardiff when he came on as a substitute in last season′s Championship match with Hull.
The offer has supposedly been made by a London based Premier League club.
"We′ve had a seven-figure offer for Aaron, however had absolutely no hesitation in turning it down," Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale asked the Western Mail.
"The trouble with offers like these for such a young player is that whilst the headline numbers are impressive, they tend to be structured in such a way that you don′t get the full amount until 5 years′ time."
Ramsey, who is the captain of Wales U17s, is regarded as one of the best young players to come through the Cardiff academy.
His attacking drive from midfield has earned him comparisons with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, and Bluebirds manager Dave Jones mentioned that he has all the attributes to be a Premier League star.
He played a significant part in Cardiff′s progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup, scoring in the 3-2 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium which finished their impressive run.
Some 2 months later, Ramsey made his 1st and so far only 1st team appearance when he played the last 6 minutes of Cardiff′s 1-0 defeat to Hull at Ninian Park.
Last week, Everton had a substantial bid discarded for 17 year old Chris Gunter, another graduate of Cardiff′s youth development programme.
